Myself and Mike Brett (fondly known as "The Two Old Geezers")
have in the recent past been delighted to have 2 compilations released on
the ICC record label.
These 2 albums (both having had 2 production runs) are now obsolete.
They are:-
"Homemade Jazz Hymns-Make A Joyful Noise" and
"Homemade Jazz Hymns-Down By The Riverside".
However due to the success of these, and recent pressure by people still wanting
these 2 obsolete albums, ICC has in January 2007 re-released this material as a
Double Album priced at £9.99.
It is called:-
"Homemade Jazz Hymns-The
Collection".
This too will of course become obsolete soon enough.
Here are images of the 2 obsolete album covers.
Below is a list of all hymns in the double album
The second CD of the 2-CD set has the following
hymns:-
"There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today"
"Shout Aloud
Salvation"
"Love
Divine"
"Shout
For Joy"
"Since Jesus Came Into My Heart"
"Abide With Me"
"Bach Prelude and Fugue.
"The Butterfly Song"
"Down In The Valley/Follow On"
"Faithful
God"
"Power In The Blood"
"Down
By The Riverside"

My transcribed copy of the first publication
made in 1867 (penned in 1866).
In the aftermath of the re-released albums by ICC, BBC SOLENT listeners
commissioned us in February 2007 to create our own version of the Hymn
"Tell Me The Old, Old Story".
Tim Daykin is the presenter there.
The wonderful fall-out of this is fascinating, and has led to the
re-discovery of the book by Arabella Katherine Hankey called "The Old, Old
Story".
It has resulted in my making a totally free PDF.

In this PDF you will find an extremely painstakingly made transcript of
the full publication to every punctuation detail. .
Indeed another very special 3rd party in this discovery story, Stephen M,
Lawson, was an amazing support in the heavy duty repeated proofing sessions that
followed .
His own very touching take on the search for the lost publication of "The
Old, Old Story", can be seen if you visit his web-site at http://kinnexions.com/smlsource/story.htm
I do highly recommend this to you.
Also in the free PDF is the story of it's eventual re-discovery, and
also a lightly humoured take on the story of "The Two Old Geezers".

The beautiful work by Katherine Hankey on the free PDF is really worth looking
at. It is very very special.
Recently it has been reliably confirmed that, although known to her friends as
Kate, and somehow this has turned into Katherine, her true name is
Arabella Catherine Hankey.
This has come about from recent contact with a living relative of hers.
This was suspected prior to the PDF released here, but only very recently has
this been confirmed.
The Clapham Sect and William Wilberforce.
Directly related to Catherine Hankey there is a hyperlink below to a
much deeper thought-provoking consideration of the Clapham Sect, focusing
on William Wilberforce and the Abolition of the Slave Trade in 1807.
Catherine Hankey was a member of this group of Christians.
The hyperlink below will take you directly to a recent lecture that the
Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, gave in Hull recently.
After a read through my light weight perspective of "The Old, Old
Story" within the PDF, this would certainly be worth looking at if you wish
to look more deeply than my PDF drawing you towards the publication of "The
Old, Old Story" published in 1867.

Previous recordings with Mike:-
"Easy Listening Dec1998" A delightful album by Rod. A very
carefully compiled Collection of well arranged standards.
Remnants of "Home Made Jazz" (a
2nd collaboration with Mike
Brett) . this was made obsolete on the release of "Homemade
Jazz Hymns-Make a Joyful
Noise" on the ICC label.
This was a delightful mix of
sacred and secular tracks.
"Playin' On The Swing" The is the
1st CD I ever made with Mike Brett ahead of "Home Made Jazz".
We are considering pulling this material and other previously
unshared secular tracks onto a "retro-compilation" of pre
"Homemade Jazz Hymns" recordings.
This may interest those who have taken a liking to our popular Hymn material.
Stay posted if this idea appeals.
Actually more than that let us know and give us a push to do something about it.
